Dozens of Israeli and Palestinian students met on Tuesday outside the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to protest the war in Gaza when they accused Israel of committing genocide.
The images of the manifestations that circulate on social networks show the protesters to stir signs and banners that read: “Stop The War” and “Stop The Genocide”.
As with the protests that have exploded on American campuses, many of the students who participate in the demonstration can be seen wearing Keffiyehs.
Some of the students could also be seen with banners that said: “Stop bombing the journalist,” referring to Monday’s air attack that hit a multimedia tent outside the Nasser hospital, killing two people and hurting six other reporters.
Free Jerusalem, a defense group that requested the end of the occupation of Israel in the West Bank, joined the protesters in school after the university administration, which initial granted permission for protest, withdrew its authorization, Local Haaretz reported.
“Despite the pressures of the university, we are here to support the students fighting to end the genocide and free Palestine,” the group said in a statement.
At the same time as the protest in Jerusalem, a manifestation was held in solidarity at the Al-QDs University in the West Bank.
That protest, however, dispersed quickly after the Israeli forces broke into the campus and used tear gas, stunned guns and sound pumps against protesters, according to local reports.
The protests arise as frustrations grow in Israel for the current war in Gaza, with 59 hostages that dates back to captivity after 550 days.
Thousands have been protesting in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem against the decision of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu de Guerra after a collapse in the high -fire of short life agreement with Hamas.
Netanyahu’s critics have accused him of putting the policy on hostage security, 24 of which they are believed to be still alive, with the prime minister maintaining that military pressure was the best solution to eradicate Hamas and free the captives.
Almost a month the war resumed, Israel has taken control of almost half of the Gaza Strip, without even signs of progress in the stagnant peace conversations.
