A 17 -year -old boy was fly in the chest inside a Bronx smoke store on Saturday when he was confronted by a duo dressed in all black and masks, shown in a scooter, police said.

The teenager was in convenience of ZA in 1740 Lafayette Ave. in SoundView when they shot him once in the chest just before the 1 PM, police said. The teenager was taken urgently to the Jacobi hospital in stable condition, police said.

The police were looking for the assailants, the police said.

The store had been temporarily closed in 2023 for the alleged sale without marijuana license and then agreed not to sell marijuana, according to a civil complaint filed by the city in the Supreme Court of Bronx County.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting had something to do with marijuana, police said.

The store was the scene of a similar shooting in 2012 in an incident that involved two masked men, said News 12 in November 2023.

In that incident, two people get used to the store around 2 in the morning and opened fire against a 22 -year -old man, the station reported. It was beaten in the leg.

Police were revashing the area for the surveillance video on Saturday, police said.
