The hometown of Rory Mcilroy felt the same emotions as the rest of the world of golf saw him win the 2025 masters, only the people of Northern Ireland could have gone even more crazy than the fans who celebrated from their living room.
In the small coastal city of Holywood, Northern Ireland, where Mcilroy grew up and began his golf journey, fans gathered to see the teachers and support their city’s hero.
Through the unparalleled stress of the teachers from above and below Mcilroy, everything culminated at a wild moment in which the work ended in a playoff against Justin Rose. The Holywood golf club went crazy.
The moving viral video tasks of fans in the Club house after Mcilroy sank the winning putt revealed the emotions of a mountain among the fans of Northern Ireland.
The Holywood legend had finally captured his first green jacket to finish a great 11 -year -old drought, completing his Grand Slam career.
“It really was a roller coaster walk,” said Holywood Golf Club, Captain Ruth Watt, BBC Breakfast or Mcilroy’s 2025 Masters. “The whole club has been on this trip with Rory, and many of them do not play golf at all, but Rory is from Holywood and his mother and his dad. It’s just that he overlaps.”
Emphasizing even more how inverted is the city in Mcilroy’s career, “Skinners Bakery” in Holywood baked cookies with Mcilroy’s face in them after their victory in Augusta National and sold the gift in a short time.
“I’ve had to go home twice to print more,” said Baker Graham McMarsh. “The printer is running out of ink!”
Selling cookies with Mcilroy’s face on them has bone and a tradition in the city for each time the golfer wins a great tradition, a tradition surely had itching on the legs during the last decade.
Just as Holywood is proud of one of his own, Mcilroy can certainly be proud of his time there, since he finally achieved what he set out to do almost 30 years ago.
“[I’d like] To turn Pro and win all the oldest, ”said a young Mcilroy to the BBC Sports Norte de Ireland in 1998.
Well, the Holywood hero has finally done it.
