At least one person was killed when a double engine with six people on board crashed on Saturday in a muddy field in the north of the state of New York, authorities said.

A Mitsubishi Mu-2B-40 plane crashed in the middle of an open field near Copake, about 50 miles south of Albany, said Federal Aviation Administration.

The deputies of the Columbia County Sheriff’s office responded to 911 calls around noon about the fatal accident, said the inheritance of the lower Jacqueline Salvatore, a duration press conference.

The plane had headed to Columbia County Airport in Hudson, about 30 miles from Copake, when it crashed.

“It is in the middle of a field and is quite muddy, so accessibility is difficult,” said Salvatore.

Salvatore said the accident was fatal, but refused to say how many people were killed.

The National Transportation Board said that it was deployed by a research team, which arrived on Saturday night, to investigate the accident.
