Fannin County, Go. – A man who slept in a hammock in the Cohutta desert of the Chattahokee National Forest in Georgia died on Saturday when a tree fell into his camp.

According to Fannin County Emergency Management Agency, four men camped near Panther Creek Falls.

They were sleeping in the hammocks when a tree fell on them early on Saturday, catching one of the men.

A father and daughter camping nearby they hastened to help after listening to the tree falling and crying for help, authorities said.

The authorities said that emergency equipment took about five hours to reach the remote camp after receiving the call at 2:15 am

When they arrived, they found a dead man and another with minor injuries.

The father and daughter who stayed with the campers left with the two non -injured campers and helped take them to their car.

The first to respond requested air support to help get the injured hiker from the area, said Fannin Ema County.

A helicopter was able to safely remove the injured hiker and take him to a preparation area where he was stabilized and then task in a hospital through the ambulance.

The Fannin Ema County video showed the hiker who was transferred from the wooded area through the helicopter.

Fannin County, Ema, said air support was fundamental for the response, significantly helping to reduce the time to evacuate the Kured hiker.

The man who died on the scene was also transferred by plane through the helicopter outside the location.
