The celery sold in Walmarts in almost 30 states has been removed from the market due to a possible risk of listeria pollution, according to the United States Food and Medicines Administration (FDA).

Doubt Fresh Foods, Inc., based in California, voluntarily withdrew the washed celery and ready to eat after random sampling by the Georgia Agriculture Department in a store in Georgia gave a positive result.

Listeria infection can cause fever, headache, rigidity, nausea, abdominal pain and Darrhea and, in young children, older people and immunocompromised, it can be fatal.

It can also cause fetal deaths and spontaneous abortions in pregnant women.

There are no diseases that have yet been informed on the leg from the marketpiece of the market sold in Walmart with the UPC Code 6 81131 16151 0, the FDA said.

The sticks come in a four -way count and have a sale date of March 23, although the FDA said that buyers could have frozen the celery to use later.

The celery has a Lot code of P047650 at the front of the package.
