The editor of the popular online game Fortnite says that Apple rejected its presentation of the game to the iOS Application store.
In a publication on X on Friday, Epic Games said: “Apple has blocked our fortnite submission so we cannot launch to the US Applications store. Or to the Epic game store for iOS in the European Union. Now, unfortunately unpleasant.
Blocking the game in iOS is the last wrinkle in a legal saga that faces the game editor against the world’s largest technology company on the application store rates. Recently, a judge ruled that Apple has been ignoring a 2021 court order that prohibits blocking access to external links for subscripts and purchases in the application within mobile applications. This decision led to a demand for collective action and allowed the editors that include Epic and Spotify forwarding applications with ways for users to access subscriptions and buy through the App Store, where Apple takes a cut.
The game was expected to return to the iOS application store this month, but the apparent rejection means that this does not happen soon.
Scanning a QR code to access the game on an iPhone takes users to a website that currently says: “The epic game store on iPhone is only available for European Union customers.”
An Apple representative did not respond to a request for comments on the presentation.
Apple responds, classifies or
Bloomberg News reported that Apple denied deleting Fortnite from “alternative distribution markets”, an accusation of epic games has not done. According to Bloomberg, Apple says that he asked the European Epic division to send the game again without including the US showcase. Uu., To keep the game aviable in other regions. Apparently, Apple did not comment on the state of sending the game for the US App Store.
Due to regulatory differentials and legal decisions in the EU, Epic has been able to launch its Epic Game store for iOS in that region, and players could download Fortnite through that application. Because Fortnite update must be applied in iOS in all areas, that is no longer the case.
