The Junta de las Spartes, in collaboration with Apede, conducted a one -day awareness program in the eighth edition of the National Organic Production Program (NPOP) on Kochi spices. The event aimed to raise awareness about updated NPOP standards for the production of sustainable spices of bears promotion of organic spices and spice products.
The program was inaugurated P. Hemalatha, secretary, Board of Espices. Saswati Bose, General Manager, Apeda, BN JHA, Director (Marketing), Junta de Spices; Dharmendra Das, director (Development), Spartes Board and Joji Mathew, director (RETD), Species Board and main auditor, NPOP went to the participants.
Hemalatha said: “Sustainable agriculture aims to guarantee safe and nutritious foods at an affordable cost, profitability of farmers and environmental conservation. In this context, the eighth edition of NPOP provides essential guidelines for the production of organic spices in harmony with nature. I hope that this program deepens the understanding and commitment of those interested with sustainable practices.”
The technical sessions presented insicious presentations on organic certification, updated NPOP standards, market trends and practical challenges. Saswati Bose developed in the provisions of the eighth edition for the production of sustainable spices.
Thejas Thayyil, Business Chief, Biowin Agro Research, spoke about the reach and global demand of organic spices.
