Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., isn’t backing down from sparring with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over the Trump administration’s decision to provide Argentina a $20 billion currency swap with Argentina’s central bank.  Warren, along with Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., led a coalition of lawmakers in sending a letter to Bessent Monday accusing the secretary of prioritizing foreign governments over U.S. farmers as President Donald Trump considers offering farmers financial relief and China scales back soybean purchases amid ongoing tariff negotiations.  “At the same time the Administration is weighing financial assistance for farmers impacted by the Administration’s self-inflicted trade war, it is…

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday announced its second interest rate cut of this year as policymakers moved to support the labor market despite inflation remaining above the central bank’s target. Fed policymakers voted to lower the benchmark federal funds rate by 25 basis points to a new range of 3.75% to 4%. The move follows a rate cut of that size in September, which was the first reduction this year. Policymakers have been monitoring economic data, which has shown a slowdown in the labor market in recent months as businesses grapple with changes in trade and immigration. Meanwhile, inflation has trended higher…

Microsoft’s Azure cloud service is experiencing an outage that appears to have hit Microsoft 365 , Xbox and Minecraft. All three show spikes in outage reports on DownDetector around 12PM ET, and the Azure status page indicates Microsoft is working on deploying fixes to address the issue. In its most recent Azure status update as of 1:53PM ET, Microsoft says that its “initiated the deployment of our ‘last known good configuration,’” but has run into delays “due to protective blocks” put in place to protect Azure Front Door. “Once the rollout is complete, we will begin recovering nodes and re-routing…

A decade ago, when smart speakers with built-in voice assistants were the hot new thing, many imagined they’d quickly evolve into highly intelligent companions. (Think C-3PO or Star Trek’s Data living inside a speaker.) That road has been much longer than expected, as virtual helpers like Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant seemed to sit in neutral for years. But now that generative AI is here (for better or worse), smart speakers are finally scratching the surface of those expectations. Google’s new version, Gemini for Home, is now available to try. Here’s how. First, keep in mind that the Gemini for…

The Trump administration is making it more difficult for veterans with a rare but deadly cancer to get their health care needs covered by the government. The new policy, involving breast cancer in men, is laid out in a Department of Veterans Affairs memo obtained by ProPublica. The previously undisclosed document does not cite any evolving science. Rather, it relies on an order that President Donald Trump issued on his first day in office titled: “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” An agency spokesperson confirmed the change. “As of Sept. 30, the…

Toxic wastewater from oil fields keeps pouring out of the ground across Oklahoma. It has bubbled up near homes and a school — and it has killed farmers’ crops and ranchers’ calves. These incidents, sometimes called “purges,” have also contaminated the private water wells of people in rural areas.  Over the years, some Oklahoma residents have made complaints. But they haven’t always found an easy solution.  A rancher in northeastern Oklahoma told us he’s complained for years about wells leaking oil. The state plugged one well, which he said shot salt water and oil 40 feet in the air, but…

In January 2020, Danny Ray started a complicated job with the Oklahoma agency that regulates oil and gas. The petroleum engineer who’d spent more than 40 years in the oil fields had been hired to help address a spreading problem, one that state regulators did not fully understand.  The year prior, toxic water had poured out of the ground — thousands of gallons per day — for months near the small town of Kingfisher, spreading across acres of farmland, killing crops and trees.  Such pollution events were not new, but they were occurring with increasing frequency across the state. By…

Saya masih ingat betul ketika pertama kali mendengar istilah “riset pasar” — sekitar dua puluh tahun lalu, saat saya baru saja lulus kuliah dan bekerja di sebuah perusahaan ritel kecil di Surabaya. Waktu itu, saya sama sekali tidak paham apa arti riset pasar, apalagi bagaimana penerapannya. Yang saya tahu hanya: menjual produk sebanyak mungkin. Titik.

When I first heard people talk about their 5-to-9 routine, I used to roll my eyes a little. In my 20s, those hours were mostly a blur. I’d rush from work to dinner plans, answer a few more emails, or collapse onto the couch with whatever takeout I could find. I thought “evening routine” meant a list of tasks to perfect, another chance to optimize. But lately, as I’ve stepped into my 30s (finally! yay!), I’ve started to think differently about this time. It’s not something to race toward or get through. My 5-to-9 routine is something to savor. Over…
