A young mother has revealed how her life has “overturned” after the tragic loss of her fiance who recently died from suicide while fighting with the cost of living pressures.
Rachel Keily, 33, said her partner or 7 years, Matt World, lived with mental health challenges.
But after fighting silently with “Financial Stress”, Worrall Tok his own life on April 2, 2025, leaving behind his devastated companion and his 15 -month -old son.
In the months before his sudden death, the 36 -year -old services locator had not shown any “signal” that it was not right, Kily said, explaining that the affectionate father was still eating and sleeping and had maintained his routine to go to work and the gym every day.
“When he had not been well in the past, he had leg signs, but when he arrived at this he did not imitate that, he did not look like this,” said the mother afflicted to News.com.au.
“It seemed, in any case, a little stressed by finance due to the cost of living, but he told me that he was well, that he was still going to work, doing everything normal.
“We had been talking about the weekend, since we were going to camp in Easter. But now everything has changed.”
The loss of the couple has left Keily to take care of her son Henry Solo, as well as the burden of taking care of her joint financial responsibilities.
She said that the salary she earns from her administrative work 4 days a week is not enough to cover the mortgage refund of $ 2,684 at her home in Melbourne, located approximately one hour north of the city.
“I can’t find this house anymore, I can’t pay the mortgage on my own, so it is a great financial tension,” he shared.
“When we moved to the house three years ago, the reimbursement was $ 1,560, so it has almost doubled.
“Things were tight when there were two or us, now it feels impossible.”
According to the latest loan indicators of the Australian Statistics Office (ABS), the average mortgage size for occupant-colupant homes is $ 400,873 or September 2024.
Compared to the same month last year, the average mortgage size has increased by $ 27,003 or 7.2 percent.
This means that the average monthly reimbursement of the mortgage is around $ 3,863, he thought it varies from one state to another.
The tenants do not go better, with the median national rental price that rises above $ 374.58 per week, and according to the financial comparison search engine, an amazing 42 percent of Australians live in the payment check.
After the death of Worrall, friends and family have gathered to help support the devastated family through financial difficulties, with a Gofundme page raising more than $ 24,971 to help with expenses.
“I just considered creating a fundraising, I assumed that I would have to move, but when I published in a local community group asking for real estate resources that people gathered to help,” Keily said.
“It never occurred to me, and I certainly didn’t imagine that we would raise so much. He is giving me a space to breathe in a very widespread time.
“I know that Henry and I cannot stay in our house forever, we cannot pay it, but to be able to buy some time so that we can cry and process what has happened. I am very grateful.”
While the family prepares to say goodbye to the couple and the loving father, Keily paid tribute to her late fiance, and asked others to be attentive to those who suffer in silence.
“Henry has lost his father at such an early age, he is unimaginable,” he said.
“Matt was a person so present in the family, he did all our kitchen, he was a regular son of Dad who went back, he was very involved.
“Hey, he did not step on a eyelid to do something to facilitate your life.”
She added: “Losing it has rejected our lives. I don’t understand, I don’t know how our future looks, every dream we had a family has disappeared.
“I hope Matt’s death can help raise awareness about suicide prevention, he would only like to have been able to help, that he spoke.”
