Augusta, VE. – Scottie Scheffler insists that he does not pay attention to what the teachers did three years ago … or last year for the case.
With regard to Scheffler, he will enter the 89th Masters this week, not as the defending champion.
Or no. 1 player classified in the world.
Or like some of those who have won two of the last three teachers.
Or some who try to do something that Jack Nicklaus has done: winning three teachers in a period of four years.
“I really try not to look too much in the past [and] I try not to look too far in the future, “Scheffler, 28, said Tuesday. “I simply like to stay in the present and go one week at the same time. When I moyo on Thursday, the tournament began as a pair just like everyone else.
“Last year, don’t you have much to do with this year, outside of I can I go any of the experience that I had good in this golf course and reflect on that? When I spent there, last year, and it is totally”
He does not agree with Jon Rahm, the last player to occupy the ranking No. 1 before Scheffler took advantage of it almost two years ago.
Rahm marveled from the power of permanence of Scheffler at the top of the ranking.
“It’s always a debate: Is it more difficult to get there or stay there?” “Rahm said it’s No. 1.” And staying there is much more difficult than getting there, I would say. What we have seen to do Scottie in the last three, four years is quite impressive. Its ball -blow level is exceptional.
“Every time you have a year in which they compare you to Tiger [Woods] At your best, I don’t think you need to add anything else to that. Winning nine times, winning older, winning Fedex glasses and being the best during the season is quite incredible. “
You, or of course, would never know that Scheffler is impressed or proud or self for all achievements, thought.
Maybe that is your secret sauce, your superpower.
Scheffler will begin his mastery defense at the Opening Round on Thursday at 10:15 AM grouped with Justin Thomas and the Spanish fan José Luis Ballester.
And he will do it with one thing in mind: win this week’s tournament.
Although the current race in which it is in the leg has it in the number 1 position in the world during the last 98 weeks or that it has a chans to make history this week, Scheffler insists on Vluchataria ignorance.
“I really don’t concentrate many of those things,” he said. And that is what I define success.
“When I think about preparing for this week, when I step on the first tee on Thursday, I will remember that I have done what I needed to play well, and it is about going out and competing now.”
Scheffler has played in six tournament this season and has not won one.
Taking into account the seven -bag tournament last season, that is news.
He tied secondly at Texas Children’s Open two weeks ago and believes he is in good shape.
“I feel very prepared for this golf tournament,” said Scheffler. “This is definitely the most prepared that I have felt all year.”
Scheffler’s season was delayed after he cut his hand with a knife while doing homemade ravioli at Christmas.
He said “he hoped to avoid” “injury at the annual Champions dinner, which was the host of Tuesday night as a defender champion.
“Maybe they will cut my steak [so] I’m going to have to wear a knife or something, “he said jokingly.
“This year that came out of an injury it was definitely a feeling different from the one I have had in recent years. But in regards to the preparation, this is definitely prepared as I have felt any event this year, and I am excited.
