A deranged homeless man suspended from cutting a young woman in the neck with a broken bottle in Soho, leaving her near life, now faces charges of murder attempt, police said.
Muslim Brunson, 46, has been accused of attempted second degree murder, second degree assault and criminal possession of a third degree, the police told the post on Tuesday.
Brunson, who, according to the police, has no home, has been arrested several other times, more recently in July 2022 for assaulting a Nypt employee and leaving her with a broken basin.
The police said at that time that Brunson pushed a woman to a subway post on a train No. 4 at Fulton Street so strong that her basin and cheekbone fractured.
He was also arrested for theft in 2019, police sources said.
The most recent attack allegedly involved Brunson developed around 3 pm on Monday at Ritzy Soho.
The police say that Brunson broke a glass bottle before crawling behind a 25 -year -old woman in the corner of Wooster and Broome streets and attacking her with broken fragments.
The woman was urgently taken to the Bellevue Hospital, where she underwent surgery, but it was said that she was conscious and alert, the assistant chief of the New York Police, James McCarthy, said he was missing an informative session on Monday.
McCarthy, who is the officer in command in Manhattan, said the police believe that mental illness may have been a factor in the assault not caused, but the authorities were still investigating.
Before the bloody cut, the suspect threw the bottle to another 29 -year -old woman, and then picked up the pieces to attack the 25 -year -old victim, authorities said.
The 29 -year -old retention was not injured in the incident.
Brunson, who allegedly caused the police with a false name and carried a marine sweatshirt with the NYPT logo, was soon arrested near the scene, police sources and application of the law said.
