Senator Joni Ernst (R-II) introduced on Monday a legislation that would sell millions of dollars of firearms from the Internal Tax Service (IRS) to pay the national debt.
As the United States approaches Tuesday, Ernst presented why the IRS needs act to reform how the agency manages firearms. The Iowa senator introduced the legislation after Open the Books reports suggested that the IRS would do so of the 50 largest police departments based on their staff and storage of firearms and ammunition.
“Why does IRS waste millions of our tax dollars storing weapons and ammunition?” Ernst asked rhetorically in a written statement.
She continued: “This is especially worrying, given the story of the search for partisan witches within the agency, and the fact that it is more common for IRS agents to accidentally fire their weapon, who do it intentionally. Debt and edition of firearms security courses for these tax collectors.”
“Since 2006, the IRS spent $ 35.2 million in arms, ammunition and military -style equipment (adjusted by the CPI). The 2020 and 2021 years were peak years in the IRS to buy weapons and equipment. He bought the mill since then since then since then,” the books opened.
Since 2020, IRS has spent at least $ 10 million on firearms and ammunition for approximately 2,100 special agents.
A 2021 report by the Inspector General of the Treasury for the Fiscal Administration (Tigta) discovered special agents in the IRS Criminal Investigation Division accidentally fired their weapons more frequently than they dismissed them intentionally.
At the end of March, Ernst announced a proposal for an important reform to the IRS, which has been labeled as the “less favorite government agency” of the United States. This includes:
- Eliminate duplicate audit of all taxpayers and entities, including passes.
- Keep all federal employees, especially IRS officials, with the same tax compliance standards as the average American
- Check the EIN online application tool (employer identification number) to be notified to the public at all times
“IRS has been constantly armed against US citizens, directed religious organizations, journalists, owners of everyday weapons and Americans.” Representative Barry Moore (R-AL), who presented the complementary legislation of the Chamber, said in a written statement.
“Arming these agents does not make the American public safer. My legislation, why the IRS needs the weapons law, would disarm these agents, would auction their weapons to federal fire licenses and sell their ammunition to the public. The only thing with which IRS agents must be armed are the calculators. “
