Sergio García lost the cut for the sixth time in his last seven openings in the Masters, but he is still making news.
The wife of the Spanish golfer confirmed that Garcia left his life managers, Carlos Rodríguez and Irek MySkow, due to what was called a “conflict of interest.”
According to Garcia’s wife, Angela, the change was made months ago and pointed out that Rodríguez’s participation with a LIV golf team different from that Garcia is part of LED to the division.
“Carlos Rodríguez is a wonderful guy and we have a wonderful relationship. But now he is the general manager of Torque, so it is a conflict of interest,” said Angela García, according to the golf week.
In addition, Angela García said Myskow should not work with Sergio because Myskow is the general manager of the Liv de García team, Ballys. Garcia is the captain of the team.
The news of the change follows the rumors that Angela García had tasks as her husband’s manager.
On the other hand, the work went to Andrew Dlerallo, who works for fireballs and has also served as senior vice president of sports operations for Austin FC, the MLS team located in the city where Garcia resides.
When asked this week about not working with Garcia, Rodríguez said: “It’s personal, so I don’t want to talk about that.” On Friday, he added: “We are still very close and I talk to the family all the time.”
According to Spotrac, García, 45, has won more than $ 45 million in the PGA Tour, as well as $ 38 million with Liv Golf since he went to the League in 2022.
Garcia won the Masters for the last time in 2017, but has played this season with LIV, despite not reaching the weekend in the first important tournament of the year.
He fired a 72 in the first round, but continued with a 76, since Garcia was one of the several big names to lose the cut.
