A retired couple has resigned from their home, their business and their life on land to live full time aboard a cruise that will travel around the world for 15 years.
Lanette and Johan Canen, both 55, began their epic adventure in mid -2024 aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey ship.
The ship is a residential ship that will stop at 425 ports in 147 countries in the next three years, but the rent pay locks in a room for 15 years.
Lanette and Johan thought that the boy of the lifestyle they now had was only for Millionaires and were surprised to discover that they could join the Odyssey for less of their life costs in Hawaii, where they had resided for 10 years.
The couple’s trip is an all -inclusive stay that includes food, drinks, Wi -Fi and a cleaner for only $ 3,500 per month.
It is not a bad price taking into account what the inhabitants of the Earth pay for rent or mortgages, groceries, cars/tolls/gasoline registration, electricity, water and everything else in the middle.
“We had an interested car business that we sold to pay our cabin,” Johan told The Daily Mail.
“People think we are ultra rich for Bee to do this, but it is cheaper than our rental and life costs in Hawaii. This is for normal people.”
Johan and Lanette are not alone in their great change of lifestyle, with many retirees who choose to give up the maintenance of a house for the emotion of the sea.
Many people see it as a cheaper option that allows them to mark a series of elements of their desire lists.
Lanette and Johan have visited more than 25 countries only eight months on their 15 -year trip and enjoy the time their ship spends in each place.
The Odyssey spends several days in each port unlike the traditional cruises that enter and leave in one day.
“We have a lot of strategy, we both have 55 years, we don’t need. We just want adventures and experiences. We get used to possessing 31 cars to any,” said Johan.
“It feels so good not to have responsibilities: we have our clothes for clothes and that our sheets change twice a week.
“This is the future, especially with work from home.”
Many people who consider the full -time cruise as an option for them fight with the idea of leaving the family behind, but that is a problem in Odyssey’s friends and family can visit for up to 28 days with their own room and is free.
“The service is exceptional, we feel royalty, they just incline us. There are no regrets, I love this lifestyle,” said Lanette.
“With the income going around the world, this will be the new way of life.”
Johan and Lanette document their cruise lifestyle on their YouTube channel: Live life on a cruise.
They have almost 30,000 subscribers and millions of opinions of people interested in following full -time cruise life.
