A federal judge ruled that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has the legal authority to cancel the visa held by Mahmoud Khalil, a foreign visitor who directed Pro-Ahamas protests at a University of New York.
But Khalil will be allowed that his day in court will argue against his expulsion, the judge told the room crowded Friday afternoon.
Many pro-migration activists aligned by Democrats are using freedom of expression to defend Khalil.
But Khalil directed protests at Columbia University against Israel’s counteroffensive against the atrocious murder of Hamas of approximately 1,000 Israeli civilians in October 2023.
To justify the expulsion, Rubio cited an existing law that allows him to cancel Visas Hero by foreigners.
His deputies told the Court that “public actions and the continuous presence of … Khalil in the United States undermine US politics to combat anti -Semitism throughout the world.”
The probable detention and deportation follow the policy of President Trump to exclude visitors or migrants who “defend the odious ideology.” The policy was established by Trump’s executive order of January 20, which says:
It is the policy of the United States to protect its citizens from foreigners who intend to commit terrorist attacks, threaten our national security, defend the odious ideology or exploit immigration laws for evil purposes.
Some activists have tracked Khalil’s Pro-Ahamas campaign.
