According to the reports, the Alphabet Matrix of Google cut hundreds of jobs in the responsible division of Android and its Chrome web browser as part of its last restructuring.
The layoffs arrived at the Division of Google platforms and devices, which also includes employees who work in Google Photos and other hardware such as Pixel, Fitbit and Nest products, information reported on Thursday, citing a source with direct knowledge of the base.
“Since we combine the platforms and devices equipment last year, we have focused on being more agile and operating more effective and this included making some work reductions in addition to the voluntary output program that we sacrifice in January.
The exact number of impacted workers was not clear immediately.
The publication has communicated with Google to comment.
In January, Google extended the “voluntary” purchase offers to members of the same division. The company said that employees based in the United States requested the offer learned before March 25 if they were approved and received a compensation package.
The great technological giant has carried out a continuous restructuring as it pours more resources in the career to develop advanced AI.
Last October, Alphabet’s financial director Anat Ashkenazi said the company would seek “additional opportunities” for cost cuts.
In 2023, Google dismissed about 12,000 employees, or approximately 6% of its general labor force.
After the last cuts, the company still has around 180,000 employees worldwide.
Other technological rivals have also cut their labor forces in recent months. Mark Zuckerberg’s goal cut 5% or “low performance” earlier this year when the CEO warned about an “intense year” ahead.
