Four Chinese citizens have been seated by the identity theft scheme aimed at defrauding retailers of more than $ 1.2 million.
The scheme included the theft of personal information from hundreds of Americans, which was then used to forge driver’s licenses and other IDs to create credit accounts in a series of national retailers, reported a press release from immigration and the application of customs.
Retaids attacked for fraud included Uult Beauty, Sephora, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Williams-Sonoma, Dillard’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.
The convicted include Kar Kee “Steven” Cheung, 36, Qian Guo, 37, Chongming “Ming” Wang, 28, and Jiaozhu “Yanny” Yan Yan, 30. They were convicted of charges that include fraud with credit cards, false manufacturing identification, fraud, fraud of devices and other crimes and were sent from 42 months, and 12 months in prison.
