The family of five addressed, the condemned tourist helicopter who collapsed in the Hudson River on Thursday was tragically in New York City to celebrate the birthday of one of his three young children.
Agustin Escobar, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and his three children, 4, 5 and 11, were killed along with an unidentified pilot when the helicopter fell into the murky waters of Hudson.
The family had just arrived at the Big Apple from Barcelona, Spain, to mark the birthday of one of their children, the Spanish newspaper El Diario.
After landing in the city, the family decided to spend their first day touring Manhattan making a picturesque trip overlooking the statue of freedom.
Before his condemned expedition, Escobar, Montal and his children were seen smiling in front of the Long Ranger IV Long Ranger helicopter in photos on the New York Helicopter Tours website.
Not long after the group ascended, the unidentified pilot radio base, 36, warns that they ran out of fuel.
Moments later, the tragedy spread when the helicopter separated in half when it flew over the Hudson between New York and New Jersey around 3:15 PM-Just 16 minutes after takeoff, FDNY officials said.
The pilot was also killed in the accident.
Since then, Escobar has been identified as the global CEO of the railway infrastructure in Siemens Mobility, while his wife was a global marketing manager in Siemens Energy, according to his LinkedIn profile. She was the Granddragraph of Agustí Montal Costa, former president of FC Barcelona Soccer Club.
Video video heartbreaking showed that the fuselage collapsed backwards, resulting in a large splash near Pier 40 in West Houston Street and West Street.
The witnesses described listening to a “boom sound” at the time of the impact after the helicopter propellers went out to separate the river.
Four victims were declared dead on the scene, and two more were declared dead in the hospital, authorities said.
The shattered shipwreck of the tourist helicopter was taken from the cold waters of Hudson on Thursday night while diving operations continue until Friday.
The owner of the tourist helicopter in Thorsday told the post that he is “devastated” by the tragedy.
“It’s devastation,” New York Helicopter Tours, Michael Roth, told us. “I am a father and grandfather and have children there, I am devastated. Ib absolutely devastated.
“The only thing I know when watching a video of the helicopter falling, that the main rotor leaves occur in the helicopter,” he continued.
“And I have not seen anything like that in my 30 years in the business, in the helicopter business. The only thing I could suppose, I have no idea, is that they had a bird’s blow or the blades of the main rotor fail. I have no idea. I do not.
“This is horrible,” Roth added. “But you have to remember something, these are machines and break.”
Since then, President Trump has spoken, qualifying the incident as “terrible.”
“Terrible shock,” he wrote in Truth Social. “The accident of the accident is horrible. God bless the families and friends of the victims,” he added, in part.
