The American Voting Evotic Law (Save) of the representative Chip Roy (R-TX) (Save) clarified the House of Representatives on Thursday.
The Chamber voted in favor of Save’s Law, which requires proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, in a vote of 220-208. All Republicans voted in support of Save’s law, but was largely approved in partisan lines, since only four Democrats voted in favor with them.
Save’s Law makes the National Voting Registry Law of 1993 to demand that the US citizenship evidence registered to vote in federal elections.
The measure itself lists several valid forms of identification to prove citizens: “A form of identification issued consisting with the requirements of the 2005 real identification law that indicates a certificate issued by a State.
“Despite ridiculous attacks and intentional misinformation about the bill, I am pleased to see that the House of Representatives once approved Save’s law in a basic bipartisan to ensure that only US citizens vote for things.
“I would like to thank the speaker Johnson, President Steil and Senator Mike Lee for his partner with this effort.
To preserve this republic, we must maintain what it means to be able to vote in an American election, “said the congressman.
“I am grateful that my believes responded to the call and approved Save’s law,” he continued, describing this as the “first critical step to ensure that we pile up electoral integrity through our country.”
“Now it is up to the Senate to take, approve and send this important bill to President Trump’s desk,” he added.
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) also celebrated the approval of the bill in the Chamber on social networks.
“Happy that the Chamber has just approved Save’s law, which I introduced into the Senate, along with @chiproytx in the camera,” Lee said.
“We must facilitate the vote and difficult to cheat,” he added. “That is what the act of salvation would.”
