Born at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Jocelyn J. Fitzgerald has deep-rooted ties to her community. She attended the Pennsylvania State University Schreyer Honors College, earning dual degrees in Biology/Neurobiology and Women’s Studies/Women’s Health. Dr. Fitzgerald then pursued her medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, graduating from the Physician Scientist Training Program in 2013. She completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University/MedStar Health.
Currently, Dr. Fitzgerald serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. She is double board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Her clinical practice focuses on chronic pelvic and bladder pain, patient-centered outcomes in pelvic reconstructive surgery, and surgical innovation in pelvic reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Fitzgerald has contributed extensively to medical literature, with publications addressing topics such as the role of MRI in diagnosing pelvic floor disorders and treatment options for women with urinary incontinence.
